The best kind of fishing

Cynthia and I took another trip into our childhood today. We went minnow and crayfish fishing. We gathered the necessary conglomeration of buckets, donned our big knee high galoshes, and headed into the woods. We wandered around up the creek for a little while to look around as it has changed alot since I was down there last, but once we started fishing we went at it with a vengeance. We were a little rusty at the catching bit at first, but eventually we got better at it and we came home with alot of friends!:) One of the biggest obstacle we had to get past was wading into the deep water. The creek really isn't very big at present but there were some pretty "deep" places were the water came up a few inches over the top of our boots. Once our boots filled up the first time though it really didn't matter anymore. The only thing you had to be careful about is that you didn't get too carried away with the activities at hand that you happened get your rear damp as you were hunkering down. In the end Cynthia was the mighty crayfish hunter (she had 6 and I had 1), and I didn't too bad in the minnow department (we estimated that Cynthia caught about 5-8, and I got 20-23 of the 28 total). We were quite proud of our performance, especially as Cynthia had about a 3in. long crayfish and I had a couple 4in. long minnows! We had to haul them all up the hill to show them off to our parents of course. They humored us with eeews and aaahs, and then it was back down to say goodbye to the news friends.
I felt like a little kid again all day, especially when I found an awesome clay deposit on the creek bank and took a break from fishing to play with it for awhile, but it was all still as much fun as I remember it being:) It was great watching Cynthia! She hadn't played down there as much when she was young so she started a bit slow, but once she got going I couldn't have drag her away if I wanted to. Her enthusiasm was a little suprising but very fun to watch. Our whole venture took about 3 hours and we were ready for lunch when we got back!
