The best kind of fishing

Cynthia and I took another trip into our childhood today. We went minnow and crayfish fishing. We gathered the necessary conglomeration of buckets, donned our big knee high galoshes, and headed into the woods. We wandered around up the creek for a little while to look around as it has changed alot since I was down there last, but once we started fishing we went at it with a vengeance. We were a little rusty at the catching bit at first, but eventually we got better at it and we came home with alot of friends!:) One of the biggest obstacle we had to get past was wading into the deep water. The creek really isn't very big at present but there were some pretty "deep" places were the water came up a few inches over the top of our boots. Once our boots filled up the first time though it really didn't matter anymore. The only thing you had to be careful about is that you didn't get too carried away with the activities at hand that you happened get your rear damp as you were hunkering down. In the end Cynthia was the mighty crayfish hunter (she had 6 and I had 1), and I didn't too bad in the minnow department (we estimated that Cynthia caught about 5-8, and I got 20-23 of the 28 total). We were quite proud of our performance, especially as Cynthia had about a 3in. long crayfish and I had a couple 4in. long minnows! We had to haul them all up the hill to show them off to our parents of course. They humored us with eeews and aaahs, and then it was back down to say goodbye to the news friends.
I felt like a little kid again all day, especially when I found an awesome clay deposit on the creek bank and took a break from fishing to play with it for awhile, but it was all still as much fun as I remember it being:) It was great watching Cynthia! She hadn't played down there as much when she was young so she started a bit slow, but once she got going I couldn't have drag her away if I wanted to. Her enthusiasm was a little suprising but very fun to watch. Our whole venture took about 3 hours and we were ready for lunch when we got back!

pink ball

Something really momentous happened today in my life. Today I decided to relive one of my childhood pastimes...I took a walk through the pasture to the golf course to look for golf balls!!! I probably even looked like a kid in my old clothes, big barn boots that came up almost to my knees, walking stick in one hand (to poke around in the brush with or ward of coyotes if need be now that I don't have Buckley to throw at them first should they actually appear:), and a white sock in the other hand. I carried one of Dad's big socks (like old times), and stretched it out (like old times) to twice its size with the 24 golf balls that I found. Oh Yeah!!!! It would probably be really bad to be playing golf with your friends and suck so bad that you hit your balls into the underbrush along side the fairway and lose them. But it provides sport for me so its cool those kind golfer-wannabe-greats are out there. Anyhow, growing up I always wanted to find a pink golf ball-quite rare finds. I only remember Rob finding like 1 or 2 of them. So, all through my childhood I searched for a totally sweet pink golf ball, but it was all for naught...until today! Finally at age 21 I found the most beautiful pink golf ball I have ever seen!!!:) My life is now fulfilled.

V

I came across this conversation, or I guess I should say a monologue, the other day that I thought was cool. It is taken from the newer movie V for Vendetta, and it is one of the main characters describing himself. It is much better to actually hear as the voice inflections help you get the feel of what is being communicated. However, reading it has its perks as well since that was the only way that I could actually completely understand what was being said. Hmmm…I may have just thoroughly confused you so to help or worsen the situation I will now get strait to the point.
“Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance, a vendetta held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose. So let me simply add that it’s my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.”
Anyway, I thought it was cool. Hope you enjoyed it!
